"Simple Management" means that we'll assist you in the initial installation of your chosen web software. We take care of installing the files, setting up permissions, and other things that can turn a 5-minute install into a first-timer's nightmare.
For software that supports it, such as Wordpress, we will show you how to automatically keep the software up to date. Outdated software is the number one reason that websites get "hacked" or "defaced", so we make it as easy as possible to ensure this doesn't happen to you.
Off-site Backups
Of course we recommend you take your own backups of your site periodically. Always remember the golden rule: if it's important, back it up. The opposite is exactly true as well: if you don't back it up, it's obviously not important. As part of our Simple Management, we'll show you how to easily take periodic backups and store them on your personal computer.
In the event something breaks and you don't have a copy on your computer, we probably have a copy on our backup server. Files on the backup server are updated hourly, so if you trash a file by accident we can probably get a good version back if it still exists on our server. Databases are backed up nightly, and we keep up to 30 revisions of it - so we can get your database information back but you may lose data from within the last 24 hours.
We do not charge for backup restorations.
We are working on adding snapshots to file backups, which will give us 30 days of file backups as well, but at yet we don't support this. If you delete a file, the sooner you file a ticket the more chance you have of it being on our backup server. Backup restoration is provided on a "best effort" basis at this time.
Complex Management
In the event Simple Management isn't sufficient for you, we also offer what we call Complex Management. We can work out an agreement to maintain all aspects of your website except content, allowing you to concentrate on your message, your passion, or your business.
